Update: under the hood improvements

During the last year, we made some incremental, under the the hood improvements to our device and software. We have just updated the relevant specifications on our website and would like to give you quick summary here:

• Even faster capture speed: due to some tuning of the drive and capture timing and an update of our motor units, the minimum total capture time for a 100 megapixel HDR image went down from about 30 seconds to under 20 seconds. Have a look for yourself at our updated video on the front page.
• New 'Auto' settings for ISO and aperture, allowing you set everything to automatic operation and let the LizardQ balance nicely between image quality and total capture time.
• Maximum ISO setting of up to 6400, which adds considerable noise but allows you save some extra seconds in low light - just in case you are shooting on a locked down highway where every second counts...
• Two new HDR modes with 4 and 5 exposure/ISO bracketed shots in addition to the existing LDR (Off), Fast and Full HDR modes.
• For special situations where you are not allowed to use WiFi or your WiFi remote control went out of power, you can now use the Canon camera's own standard controls to change base exposure, ISO and aperture settings of your LizardQ system.
• Faster image processing speed: we decided to update the information about image processing time based on measurements on state of the art notebook hardware: a Core i7 MacBook Pro "late 2011" model with a solid state disk (SSD). Each of our sample images gets processed fully automatically in under a minute on this notebook. SSDs are cool! High end desktop machines will perform even better. Part of that is due to speed improvements in the software but most of it is simply Moore's law in action :-).
